UV Sterilizers have been getting increasingly popular in recent years. We carry many lines of UV sterilizers. One of our favorites is the Lifegard Pro-MAX HO UV Sterilizer line.

Wide Variety of Sizes
Lifegard Pro-MAX UV Sterilizers come in sizes from 25-watts to 120 watts, and they are available in 3-inch and 5-inch body versions. While the rating of the 3-inch and 5-inch are the same, the 5-inch units can sterilize more water at once for boosted performance with no additional power usage. We recommend the 5-inch as long as you have the space and budget for it.

Single Lamp Units
With many UV manufacturers, once the units get over 50 watts they use multiple lamps. All Lifegard Pro-MAX units use only one lamp with a single quartz sleeve and a single lamp to replace. It is much easier to maintain a 120-watt UV with one lamp than one with three 40-watt lamps.

Replaceable Body Sleeves
If you have used a UV sterilizer long enough then you know that UV light degrades everything including the body of a UV sterilizer. We have seen some old UVs that are squishy and even slightly transparent after years of usage. With most units, you need to replace the entire unit once the body has degraded. With Lifegard UV Sterilizers the units ship with a sacrificial plastic sleeve that covers the inside of the sterilizers. When you do your annual maintenance on the unit you check the sleeve and replace it if it is warped and brittle. This will preserve the main unit’s body so that your unit can last for many years.

Amalgam Ballast
One of the most common UV troubleshooting problems is when a UV light won’t turn on. With other UV sterilizers, it is difficult to know if the problem is with the lamp or the ballast. With the 55-watt and up Pro-MAX units, the ballast is a smart amalgam ballast that will sound an audible alert if the ballast detects a short or defective lamp. If this happens you know the ballast is ok but the lamp is bad. The ballast will also record how long the lamp has been on and alert you once you have reached the end of the lamp’s useable life. The remaining time for the lamp is displayed on the ballast so you can know that your annual replacement is coming up.
