The Phosphate Remover Pads are effective at removing and controlling phosphate. Removing phosphates is the most effective way of reducing algae in aquariums.
Fluval's Semi Annual Maintenance Instructions:This Semi Annual Maintenance Kit includes all Fluval recommends for semi-annual maintenance (plus the Phosphate Pads). This includes the Quick-Clear Water Polishing Pad, Phosphate Pads & Carbon, which should be replaced every month, and the Bio-Foam Value Pack (Bio-Foam, Bio-Foam Max and Bio-Foam+), which should be replaced every six months.
Be sure to unplug your filter before cleaning.Replace your media with all the included media. Also replace any Ammonia, and Nitrite pads you are using (all not included). You should replace only half of your BioMax every six months (BioMax included). If you're using BioTerra (not included) you'll also want to replace half. The Inland Seas Super Lube is for lubricating the Motor Head Gasket, AquaStop O-Ring Gaskets, and Primer Assembly with Primer Cover. Clean before lubricating.
