Additives by Type: Aquarium Iodine
Aquarium iodine supplements replenish the Iodine that is rapidly removed by plant and animal growth, protein skimming, activated carbon, and ozone use. Aquarium Iodine is required for healthy growth and colorful pigmentation in soft and stony corals, pink coralline algae and macro algae, and many invertebrates found in captive marine systems.

Brightwell Aquatics Lugol's Solution, 30 ml
Brightwell Aquatics Lugol's Solution, 30 ml

Brightwell Aquatics Lugolís is an extremely powerful aquarium iodine solution. It should only be used by advanced reef aquarists to dose iodine as well as to create a dip for corals and their allies.
The importance of iodine in a reef aquarium cannot be overstated. Presence of iodine is vital to hermatypic invertebrates (i.e., corals, clams, and their allies that harbor zooxanthellae) because it is used to detoxify excess oxygen produced by zooxanthellae. This oxygen irritates sensitive tissue. Corals and clams that appear to shrivel or close under intense lighting are attempting to shade their zooxanthellae crop to reduce the rate of oxygen production. Iodine (as the iodide ion) essentially bonds with oxygen to form non-toxic iodate, relieving the need to shield zooxanthellae and enabling the host organism to open fully.

Red Sea Coral Colors A Halogens Iodine Supplement
Red Sea Coral Colors A, Iodine Halogen Supplement, 16.9 fl. oz
Our Price: $9.89

Red Sea Coral Colors A is a complex of halogens (Iodine, Bromine and Fluorine) that promote the pink colors in corals. These halogens act both as antioxidants and oxidative agents within the soft tissue and mucus layer of corals, reducing the possibility of coral bleaching. In active reef systems, these elements are depleted quickly due to their high oxidative abilities and reactivity with organic materials. Iodine and bromine are related to the pink chromo-protein (pocciloporin).

Thrive 4 Iodide is designed to increase iodide levels in your salt water reef aquarium. Most reef aquariums will need supplementation of iodide for all inhabitants to thrive. Invertebrates, such as crabs and shrimps need iodide to help with the moulting process. Iodide is constantly depleted by skimmers and activated carbon. The chemical management of salt water, reef aquariums is a delicate balance. The Thrive products and Thrive Analytics were created to help you simply assess and adjust the balance of your salt water aquarium system.

When purchasing more Thrive 4 Iodide you can refill your bottle with the Thrive 4 Iodide Refill 20.3 oz.

Directions for Use:
Determine the total iodine in the aquarium before supplementing. For best results, obtain a customized Thrive Prescription at your local fish store or at www.ThriveAquatics.com based on your current tested parameters. If not using Thrive Analytics in store or at home: 1. Add 1 ml per 20 gallons daily until the desired iodide is obtained. 2. Dose daily as needed to maintain iodide at .04 ppm to .06 ppm. Dosing without testing is not recommended. Advanced directions: Each ml of Iodide will increase the total iodine in 1 gallon of water by 4.75 ppm. Add Iodide at the maximum rate of 1 ml per 50 gallons daily until your target total iodine is reached. Dose weekly or as needed. DO NOT OVERDOSE: Total iodine levels greater than .09 ppm may harm aquarium inhabitants.
