This Fluval 406/407 Canister Filter 3-Month Replacement Media w/ Semi-Annual Maintenance & Phosphate Remover Package has the media you replace monthly & lubricant for three monthly changes. It also has BioMax and Bio-Foam, which should be replaced every six months. In addition, we include the Cycle to beef up your bacteria and a MarineAndReef.com Towel because you need to stop using the kitchen towels for aquarium spills.
This Package includes Phosphate Pads, and is specific to those worried about algae causing phosphate in their aquariums. Removing phosphates is the most effective way of reducing algae in aquariums.
Includes:
Fluval recommends you replace your Quick-Clear Water Polishing Pad & Carbon every month. They also recommend you clean and lubricate the Motor Head Gasket. This maintenance package will last you three months. It has SIX of the Water Polishing Pads, SIX of the Phosphate Pads and NINE of the Carbon. The filter takes three Carbons, two Phosphate and two Quick-Clears. There is also one tube of Super Lube for each month.
The items specific to the Fluval recommended semi-annual maintenance are the Bio-Foam Value Pack (Bio-Foam, Bio-Foam Max and Bio-Foam+), which should be replaced every six months, and the BioMax. You should replace only half of your BioMax every six months (BioMax included).
The Ammonia, & Nitrite Remover Pads are optional and not included. If you're using these pads, they should be replaced every month as well.
The MarineAndReef.com Aquarium Cleaning Towel is a durable, lint-free microfiber towel. 19" X 15".
Fluval's Monthly Maintenance Instructions:
Be sure to unplug your filter before cleaning. Replace your media with all the included media. You should replace only half of your BioMax every six months (BioMax included). If you're using BioTerra (not included) you'll also want to replace half. The Inland Seas Super Lube is for lubricating the Motor Head Gasket, AquaStop O-Ring Gaskets, and Primer Assembly with Primer Cover. Clean before lubricating. Add the recommended dose of Cycle Biological Booster.
