This Fluval FX4 Canister Filter Annual High Performance Maintenance Kit w/ Pads Package includes ELEVEN items: the Fluval FX Filter Bio-Foam Pads 2-Pack (Fluval A239); Fluval FX Filter Bio-Foam Block 3-Pack (A228); Fluval FX Filter Carbon Foam Pad 2-Pack (A249); Fluval BioMax Media 500 grams (A1456); Fluval FX Ammonia Remover Pad 3 Pack (A259); Fluval FX Phosphate Remover Pad 3 Pack (A262); Fluval FX Nitrite Remover Pad 3 Pack (A265); Fluval FX4 Impeller Assembly (A20208); Fluval FX4 Motor Seal Ring (A20211); and the Inland Seas Super Lube Silicone Lube, 1cc.

NOTE: According to Fluval: "Changing your impeller is proven to prolong the life of your filter."

Fluval's FX Canister Filter Annual Maintenance Instructions:
To prevent sudden failure or reduced performance, Fluval suggests the following maintenance be performed every year on their FX Series Canister Filters:
  • Unplug the filter prior to cleaning
  • Replace the Impeller. Clean and lubricate the included Motor Seal Ring & AquaStop O-Ring Gaskets (with the included Inland Seas Super Lube Silicone Lube).
  • Check and clean the intake Stem/Strainer
  • Check and clean the Ribbed Hosing
  • Replace the included Bio-Foam Pads (every six months)
  • Replace half of the included Bio-Foam Blocks ( every six months)
  • Replace the included Carbon Foam (every month)
  • The Ammonia, Phosphate & Nitrite Remover Pads are optional. If you're using these pads, they should be replaced every month as well.
  • Replace half the included BioMax and rinse the other half (every six months)
